Pot-Limit Omaha glossary

These are the 25 frozen terms used throughout PLO Camp, in English and Chinese. "Frozen" means each concept has exactly one Chinese rendering and the common alternatives are deliberately not used — Chinese PLO material tends to carry three or four names for the same idea, and having them coexist is worse than any single choice. Each entry gives the term, the Chinese we use, the renderings we avoid, and the passage from the course text where the term is first taught.

wrap 包牌听

What replaces them: your draws get bigger than anything you have seen (a four-card hand can flop a wrap, a straight draw with far more outs than an open-ender — that is C14 to C17), the nut hand matters more than the strong hand, and position gets more valuable, not less. That is the rest of this camp.

double-suited 双同花

Suits. Double-suited (two suits, two cards each) beats single-suited beats rainbow. Three or four cards of one suit is a penalty, not a bonus.

dangler 废牌

And one disqualifier that cuts across all four: a dangler — a card that pairs nothing, shares no suit, and sits too far from the others to make a straight with them. A hand with a dangler is a three-card hand wearing a fourth card, and you still have to use exactly 2 cards.

rundown 连张

Connectedness. How tightly the four ranks sit together, and where the gaps are. A rundown is four ranks close enough that the hand makes wraps.

nuttiness 坚果性

Nuttiness. Not "how strong", but "when this hand makes something, is it the best possible version of it?" An ace-high flush draw and a low flush draw carry the same equity and completely different money.

freeroll 白嫖局

The reason this matters more here than the raw percentages suggest: good aces flop something extra — a set with a flush redraw, a nut flush draw over a made hand, a freeroll where you cannot lose and might win the whole pot. Bad aces flop one pair on a board that has passed them by. Same preflop label, different game after the flop.

blocker 阻断牌

Same hand, same opponent ranks, 4.9 points, and no simulation noise anywhere near it. That is a blocker, and it is why the suits in your hand matter even in the hands where you never make a flush.

That last number is the one to keep. Pot-limit cannot get all the money in preflop from a normal stack, which is why the stack-to-pot ratio (SPR) is a preflop decision even though it is a postflop word. C5 picks it up from here.

hit probability 命中概率

With that denominator fixed, here is the chance that at least one of your outs arrives by the river. This is what we call the hit probability:

This is the definition of Omaha, not a heuristic. Our evaluator enforces it: it scores all 6 two-card pairs from your hand against all 10 three-card triples from the board — 60 combinations per hand — and takes the best one (our own Omaha equity engine).

9♦5♠4♥3♠ on 6♥7♦9♠: 13 outs, of which 0 are nut outs. Every single card that completes your straight also completes a better one for somebody.

dominated share 被支配份额

The thing that takes your stack in Omaha is not holding a non-nut draw. It is holding a draw that a lot of the hands still betting have crushed. We give that a number and call it the dominated share: out of a stack-off proxy range — hands with two pair or better on this flop, or a big draw of their own — the fraction that hold you to 35% or less. Sampled 800 hands per situation, seed 4,040,404, every match-up enumerated exactly:

Measured against a stack-off proxy range — hands that already have two pair or better on this flop, or a big draw of their own, 800 of them sampled — the thirteen-out hand is worth 26.3% and the eight-out hand 35.1%.

pot odds 底池赔率

You can compute. Legal raise sizes, pot odds, and the ratio your action leaves behind.

nut shift 坚果推翻率

Nut shift: of the possible turn cards, the fraction after which the flop's nuts is no longer the nuts. Pure board arithmetic — nobody's hand is involved, so we enumerate it exactly.

draw density 听牌密度

Draw density: the fraction of random four-card hands that flop a big draw here. Sampled, 20,000 hands per board.

check-raise

At a ratio of 4 or below, decide whether to check-raise as if you were deciding whether to put the stack in, because the maximum raise is the stack.

win share 胜份额

River K♥8♥3♥2♠7♦. We deal opponents hands that have two pair or better here — hands that would actually be putting money in — and count each holding's win share — the share of the pot it takes down, ties split — over 40,000 deals per cell. Read across: one opponent, then two, three, four.

redraw

Having a redraw is not the same as being freerolled. Of your 9 flush outs only 4 leave you holding the best possible hand — the rest arrive on boards where somebody else can hold something better. The free roll here is real because he can never win, not because your redraw is clean.

combo draw 组合听牌

That is what a combo draw count has to look like: a card is counted once, and it counts as the better of the two hands it makes. Our counter reports the three parts separately and checks the arithmetic itself, because an error of one in each part cancels out in the total and nothing would look wrong.

bluff catch

What the price asks. Half pot needs 25.0%, three-quarters needs 30.0%, a full pot needs 33.3%. That is how often your bluff catch has to be good — not how often he is bluffing, how often you win.

nut ladder 坚果梯子

"Ask which nuts" is only useful if the question has an answer, and it does — the same enumeration as the previous page, read one level deeper. Sort every two-card combination by strength, and for each rung count how often a random four-card hand reaches it. That list is a nut ladder.

We ran the scripted opponent for 120 hands against a fixed probe — it calls whenever it faces a bet and alternates check and bet when nobody has — and counted every point where a player is asked to act. 505 decision points; 113 of the 120 hands went all the way to the river. Of those 505 points, 269 came back with a verdict. That is a judgement coverage of 53.3%.

scripted opponent 脚本对手

We ran the scripted opponent for 120 hands against a fixed probe — it calls whenever it faces a bet and alternates check and bet when nobody has — and counted every point where a player is asked to act. 505 decision points; 113 of the 120 hands went all the way to the river. Of those 505 points, 269 came back with a verdict. That is a judgement coverage of 53.3%.
